Sibling Rivalry

Dave Ewing takes us into Genesis 25:19-34, where twin brothers Jacob and Esau are at odds from the start. Esau trades his birthright, a lasting inheritance, for a single bowl of stew. This message asks us to look honestly at where we do the same. We often protect our image more than we guard our heart, and we know what God says while letting culture shape us more. We may also be willing to compromise obedience for comfort, success, or approval.

The message goes on to ask where we put our time and energy. Are our biggest investments in things that won't last? Does our heart come alive more for worldly opportunities than for chances to grow closer to God? Esau's story is a warning, but it also invites us to stop trading what is eternal for what is immediate, and to guard our hearts and choose what lasts.
